Luke,
the author of Acts, says that the post-Easter adventure began in earnest on the
day of Pentecost, when people gathered in Jerusalem from across the land to celebrate
the barley harvest and worship God. God’s
spirit blew down from above and into Jesus’ adventurers, who were gathered for
Jesus’ sake.
It
must have been spectacular to see and hear and feel a touch from God in such
fashion. Everyone felt it! It must have been wild to hear diverse people
talking about God in a voice everyone else seemed to understand-even the more
distant onlookers.
Luke
says the crowd was “bewildered” and “amazed” at the sight they beheld. The Holy Spirit was touching, guiding, and
residing in each person.
The
right question was asked aloud,
“What
does this mean?”
Perhaps
Peter could explain.

Can
you recall a time when God’s spirit “blew” into you?
What
would it look like if God “touched” everyone at Chestnut Grove all at
once?
How
would Earlysville be different?
Invitation:
Prayerfully
invite God to breathe into you today.
